Littlest Hobo

Here is the theme music from a Canadian show that used to be on in the 1960s about a drifter German shepherd who helped people. They also had a 1980s version but Cathy liked the old one better. It was back in the days when the world was black and white. Must have been strange.

I've posted the theme music here and it's in Japanese, too which is kinda cool. Guess the show was shown all around the world. Wish I had a TV show that was shown around the world. Ahh, a dog can dream.

I'm too young to remember this show since it was practically the dark ages but then Cathy is getting on in years. Cathy used to love this show even though she found it sad that Hobo never had a home. He would help people through their crisis and then keep moving on.

I don't like the fact that there's a German Shepherd named London in the starring role but I'm not that fond of German Shepherds since there are two mean ones down the road from me who jump on me just for passing by their house. I know they're jealous of me but do they have to attack me all the time? Geesh! One of these days I'm going to wipe the floor with the both of them. GRRR!

I can identify with Hobo since I was a drifter before I came to live with Cathy and the gang. I was abandoned on an old dusty farm road where I wandered around for a while til Brian took me in.

I'm just like Hobo because I like to help poor lost souls, too, cause I am so incredibly altruistic. Correction. I'm basically a selfish sod who is out for Number 1 most of the time, but I do bring joy into others' lives just by being me, don't I? That counts for something, doesn't it?

I can truthfully say that I have transformed Cathy's life and enriched it greatly. Poor girl doesn't get out much and I do my bit to make her happy and give her life purpose.

I'm happy to stay put now. Still, the wanderer part of me does daydream about life out on the road.

Nothing holding me down.

No leash.

No Tyna ogling me all the time.

No Tanner wanting to pick a fight every minute.

No shackles of any kind.

Ahhhhhhhh, a dog can dream.

Until Next Time. Have a good one all!

Sweet Summertime!

I know I complain about the heat since I'm a snow doggie but there are some things about summer that are terrific.

Take songs about summer, for instance. Who can resist them?

Summer is such a fun season and only lasts such a short time, especially in Canada where I live. It's the time to have fun outdoors, go to festivals, fall in love, take it easy and relax with a book and your favourite drink. We must embrace it.

When I listen to these summer songs, I forget all about the heat and fall in love with summer just like the composers who were inspired by our short, sweet season.

Enjoy our summer, everyone! Winter will be here soon enough. (Hooray!!! OOPS! Sorry! I'm trying to curb my winter enthusiasm. No one else seems to share my winter passion, except for my pal, Rumpy)

Here are three of my favourite summer tunes. Hope you enjoy them, too.

These are some of my favourite summer songs. What are yours?

Ten reasons why having a dog makes you rich

Happy Monday, Everyone!

Loup here again.

Some of my Caring Cairn owner Facebook friends had this on their status today. It inspired me to write this blog post.

No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin

Ten reasons why having a dog makes you rich.

  1. You have to walk us which forces you to get out and exercise. We’re good for your physical and mental health.

  2. You become less selfish when you think of your dog’s needs as well as your own.

  3. Dogs give unconditional love. Cats, well, not so much.

  4. We’re always happy to see you no matter what. Unlike cats!

  5. We stroke your ego and make you feel like a king/queen. (Especially if you’ve got treats!)

  6. We make it easier for you to break the ice with humans. Geesh, you guys are uptight when it comes to talking to strangers. We pave the way for you and make it easier.

  7. We appreciate the small things in life like a good sock to chew on and we make you appreciate them, too.

  8. We live in the moment instead of regretting the past or worrying about the future.

  9. Our lives our shorter than yours. We remind you that life is short and to make the best of the time you have.

  10. We are content with very little and grateful for so much.

Sunday Mornings

Morning All! Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

My Southern Malamute pal, Rumpy, just blogged about Sunday morning http://rumpydog.wordpress.com/2011/07/24/peaceful-sunday-morning/ so I'm going to do the same from my Canadian perspective.

It's finally cooler here and the humidity has gone down. Phew! I can breathe again. It has been a real scorcher this past week. Too hot for this snow doggie. I want winter! I want winter! Yeh! Cathy says I shouldn't write this or I might get hate mail. I don't care! I love conflict and controversy. YEH! Bring it on!

I love this time of day before the neighbours get up and start being noisy. It's so peaceful and serene. Love it! And you didn't think I was a sensitive doggie, did you? I do have my moments of tranquility before I cut loose. Keep them guessing, I always say. Gotta keep them on their toes around here as they are a fairly complacent bunch.

The wind rustles the leaves above us and the air is so fresh and cool. Those blue jays and crows are still being a nuisance but what else is new? Too bad they don't migrate. We're stuck with them year around. Bummer!

Tanner is a being a big pain as he's got a gigantic branch caught in his rope. Geesh, that guy will do anything for attention. Doesn't he know that I'm the Alpha Dog and that's that? Give up, already.

Tyna is flirting with me as usual. *rolls eyes* It's hard being such a chick magnet but hey, when you got it, flaunt it, I always say.

Brian let Alex off his leash to have a little jaunt and he's taken off. Heheh. For a 16-year-old lame, blind dog, he can really move. Hope I'm that spry when I'm 16. Go, Alex!

Rosie just puked her breakfast out on the table where Cathy is sitting. Disgusting cat. I never do things like that. ;)

Ah, Sunday mornings! Nothing like them. Happy Sunday, everyone!

I LOVE SNOW

Loup’s Winter Song “I Love Snow!”

(sung to the tune of Jingle Bells)

We’re off to take a walk

I’m such a happy dog,

Carrying my crusty sock

And sniffing every log.

Charging through the snow

With a poor bewildered boy,

I yank him to and fro

Just like he was a toy.

A rabbit has gone by

I smell his furry scent,

I heave a heavy sigh

And wonder where he went.

Snowbanks are such fun

I take a flying leap,

To jump in every one

So soft and oh so deep.

CHORUS

Oh, I love snow

I love snow

Snow is really great

Why can’t winter last all year?

Why do I have to wait?

My favourite things

Garbage and road kill are awfully yummy
Rumbling and tumbling around in my tummy,
Soon I will go for a walk on the road
Where I will have the most stinky unload

Jumping in puddles is such a delight
And nothing's better than having a fight,
Those German Shepherds deserve what they get
I'll wipe the ground with the both of them yet!

Old socks are scrumptious, their texture so chewy
When I have old socks, I'm one happy Loupie,
Give me some leftovers, then I'll be set
I'll be one happy Malamute, that you can bet!

When the deer fly tries to bite me
When he makes me mad,
I simply remember my favourite things
and then I don't feel so bad!

Ode to an Old Sock

Old socks are so scrumptious, all crusty and worn

I especially like the holey ones, even better if they’re torn,

They have a special texture that makes chewing a delight

I could chew on an old sock both day and night,

The boys wear out socks without having to try

I’m practically guaranteed an endless supply,

I just love socks to pieces, they give me such glee,

If you’ve got any old socks to spare, just send them to me!

Hey, gang! I'm back to bug you with my blog! Mwhahaha!

Hi all!

I haven't blogged on my blog in ages. Cathy lets me do occasional posts on her blog www.catmuses.wordpress.com but that's not the same as having your own blog.

My friend Rumpy just started his blog http://rumpydog.wordpress.com/ . Check it out, why don't you? He's my Southern Malamute pal. He likes cats and Barney the dinosaur but he's still a cool doggie in my opinion. Besides, no one is perfect, though I do come pretty darn close.

Rumpy has inspired me to fire up my blog again. Enough of my lollygagging about. Well, I'll still lollygaggle (I just love that word, don't you?) but I will chat with you while I do it. Can't let Cathy have all the fun being verbose and boring everyone. Heheh! Of course I'm the better writer but don't tell her that as she is an overly sensitive gal and takes these things very personally.

Hope you're all enjoying your summer or winter wherever you may be. I'm having a good summer but much prefer winter as you who know me from Facebook have heard many times.

My fur is looking pretty ratty these days like a couch cushion losing its stuffing as someone described it so well. I won't let Brian brush me and I don't like him pulling out tufts of fur either. Hands off! Geesh!

I'm a snow doggie and that's that. This summer heat weighs on me but Cathy says not to complain. As her daddy says, "It's a lonnnnnnnnnnnnng winter." Ah, yes, and I love it so!

Until next time, loving licks and furry hugs to all my pals!

Love Loup
